Hey All. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everybody enjoys their Turkey day, stuffs themselves with the Thanksgiving fare, watches some good football, and has a nice food coma towards the end of the day. But unfortunately, I have some sad news to relay.
According to Yankees.com, the iconic voice of the old Yankee Stadium, Bob Sheppard, has officially announced his retirement.Mr. Sheppard has yet to make a homage to the New Stadium, not announcing a single game this year (although his recorded voice did play for all of Derek Jeter’s at-bats). Mr. Sheppard turned 99 last month, so it was certainly a fair time to call it quits. He announced games for the Yankees for over 50 years, and he truly did an unbelievable job. I’ll never forget going to the Yankee games as a young kid and hearing his voice ring over the loud speaker. He was so professional, and he just had an unbelievable voice. Yankees fans everywhere will really miss Bob Sheppard.
